Matt Methling (MEHTH-ling) will try to battle his way into the top end of the Titans' lineup... last year he was 2-2 in early-season action but sat behind John Drake the rest of the year... placed sixth at 211.5 pounds in the 2007 University Greco and Freestyle Wrestling Championships in Akron, Ohio... in 2005-06 as a freshman he was 2-3 at 197 and 2-18 at heavyweight... earned the 2006 Titans' Most Courageous Wrestler Award, presented in memory of former Titan wrestler Erin Millsap... Matt was CIF runner-up in each of his last two seasons at Vista High School for Coach Chris Davis... as a senior won the masters tourney and qualified for state... as a junior was fifth in masters... three-year varsity letterman... born on Oct. 22, 1987, in La Jolla... parents are Gary Methling and Carlene Dubel... has an older brother, Josh (26)... credits club coach Ruben Leon for having the most influence on his wrestling career... has only been wrestling for seven years... chose Fullerton on the basis of "a respectable program and Coach Hicks."
