FULLERTON, CA - Cal State Fullerton senior Kiki Munoz was named to the Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-West Region First Team as a utility player/non-pitcher as voted on the by the coaches and released by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.

Chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, the honorees will now be eligible for selection to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-America first, second or third teams.

Munoz was named to the All-West Region squad for the first time in her career and became the first Titan player to earn a spot on the all-region first team since Ashley Van Boxmeer and Candice Baker did it in 2006.

Cal State Fullerton has now had a representative on the All-West Region squad in each of the last 11 seasons dating back to 1998.

Earlier named to the All-Big West Conference First Team for the second consecutive season, Munoz batted a team-high .406 to go with seven home runs and 29 RBI in 52 games for the Titans while also slugging 15 doubles and scoring 22 runs.

She finished the regular season ranked nationally in five different categories and stands among the top five in the Big West Conference in seven different categories. One of only three players in the league to hit better than .400 during the regular season, Munoz's 20 multi-hit games led the league while her .406 average would rank her eighth on the school's single-season list.

Munoz and the Titans open play in the 2008 NCAA Tournament on Friday evening as the No. 4 seed in Westwood, Calif., facing No. 2 national seed UCLA in the day's second game. No. 2-seeded Nevada and No. 3-seeded Purdue open play at 2:30 p.m. with the Titans and Bruins following 30 minutes later.
